With is job in the balance, Manchester City manager Sven Goran Eriksson has declared himself content with his season?s work at Eastlands. Manchester City have achieved their highest ever points tally and beaten Manchester United home and away this term?

Despite the gradual improvements on a club that were in England?s third tier less than a decade ago, it seems that Thaksin Shinawatra is intent on dismissing the Swedish coach in time for next season.

However, Sven has revealed that the progess the club has made during his ten month tenure has been steady and positive.

He regarded the idea that Manchester City should be in the top four as unrealistic and that over the course of the season, City are where they deserve to be. Indeed, the club stand to be awarded a UEFA Cup spot for next season, by merit of the Fair Play table.

He told the Daily Express: ?In our case it’s not realistic to think we can qualify for the Champions League. We are good but we are not that good. We don’t have the squad that measures up to Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool.?

?You can always dream in football of playing in Europe and making it difficult for the big boys but 38 games is a long time and if you look at the table that’s the reality.

?We are more or less where we deserve to be after one year. I believe we have had a successful campaign as we are on the right side of the table. I know we have not played brilliant football in all 37 games but many times we played very well.?
