Catania sports chief Pietro Lo Monaco has revealed that three Spanish teams and the same number of English clubs would like to sign Juan Manuel Vargas this summer.
Vargas, who is nicknamed ?Catania?s Roberto Carlos? by his club supporters, has had a magnificent season at the Stadio Massimino, and has probably been the best left back in the whole of Serie A.

His stunning form since signing from Colon de Santa Fe in 2006 has led to interest from a host of clubs, including Juventus, Milan, Liverpool, Barcelona and Roma, and there is expected to be a transfer war for his services this summer.

“Roma were the first team to declare their interest, but now many teams also want him,? Lo Monaco told Radio Kiss Kiss.

?There are three Spanish teams in the running, and the same amount of English squads. ?I hope however that the player will remain playing in Italy.”

The 24-year-old Vargas, who is best known for his rampaging runs down the flank, and his ferocious left foot, has made 34 appearances in Serie A this season, scoring an impressive five goals.
