Florent Malouda has admitted that he won’t allow himself to get overly excited ahead of the Blues’ trip to the Champions League final…

Chelsea ace Florent Malouda is wary ahead of the Champions League final. The jaded 27-year-old lost two major finals before moving to StamfordBridge and isn?t relishing the prospect of adding another runners-up medal to his bitter collection.

The French winger came off the bench to help Avram Grant?s men oust Liverpool and reacht he all-Premiership Champions League final against Manchester United.

However, whilst his teammates bask in the afterglow of success, Malouda can?t help but remember France?s World Cup final defeat in 2006 and Lyon?s Coupe de la Ligue loss to Bordeaux.

“It’s odd,” Malouda told L’Equipe. “I have already played in two finals and I lost them both.

“I don’t want to be disappointed, so I prefer to wait.

“I came here to experience these moments, but I don’t want to get excited.”

Bizarre

Moreover, Malouda is fretting about his place for the Moscow showpiece. He has been featured in the ten Champions League clashes he?s been fit for since his £13.5m summer switch from Ligue 1, but has struggled to hold down a place in the Premier League campaign.

“In the league I have been put to one side, so I don’t know what will happen in the final,” he lamented.

“I am played in the Champions League but in the Premier League, I don’t play. I have even been left at home before.

“It’s bizarre but it’s no big deal. If we achieve our objectives, I will be a very happy man.”

Chelsea are on the brink of an incredible double but they could also end the season empty-handed as they are level on points at the top of the Premier League with Manchester United - the same team standing in their way of Champions League glory in Moscow.

Malouda also admits that he felt butterflies ahead of the Liverpool clash at StamfordBridge due to the blockbuster nature of the clash.

“We needed to make as few errors as possible,” he continued. “Liverpool are very organised with great pressing ability and you must absolutely avoid losing the ball in dangerous areas.

“We played a lot on Didier [Drogba], on his capacity to win his battles; it was a very intense match.

“We scored but then we were under pressure and we had moments of doubt, but eventually we were able to make the difference.”
