Ahead of the game with Bayern München, VfL Wolfsburg striker Grafite spoke with bundesliga.de about his lengthy suspension and his success in front of goal for the “Wolves”.

bundesliga.de: How do you rate your 2-2 draw at Leverkusen?

Grafite: You can certainly do worse than come away from Leverkusen with a point. But we could, or even should have won the game. Coming on the back of two successive defeats, the draw was all the more disappointing.

bundesliga.de: You made your comeback in Leverkusen following a five-match ban. What was it like to spend those weeks in the stands watching the matches?

Grafite: It was a difficult time for me. It's very frustrating for a footballer to have to sit in the stands, and be unable to influence events on the pitch. I got a lot of support from my family during this difficult period.

bundesliga.de: You celebrated your comeback by setting up both Wolfsburg goals. In all, you've scored nine goals and set up four in 20 appearances, in your first season in the Bundesliga. Things seem to be going well for you?

Grafite: I enjoy playing football, and I enjoy playing for this team. Felix Magath prepared me very well, and that's paying off now. I'm just disappointed that I wasn't able to do my bit for the side in those five games.

bundesliga.de: Your next game is at home to Bayern München. What do you have in mind for the champions-in-waiting?

Grafite: The same as always: win, and, if possible, get on the scoresheet. And I think we can take something off of Bayern too. We certainly don't have anything to be afraid of.

bundesliga.de: With four games to go, Wolfsburg are four points adrift of fifth place. Can you still take a UEFA Cup slot?

Grafite: Time will tell. As long as something's mathematically possible, you've got to keep going for it.

bundesliga.de: What are your long-term aims at VfL Wolfsburg?

Grafite: I want to advance myself with club, and help keep us near the top of the league with my goals. And, of course, I'd love to get a taste of action in Europe.
