Six days after narrowly going down to Bayern in the DFB cup final, Borussia Dortmund battle their way to a 1-1 (0-0) draw at Eintracht Frankfurt.
After two defeats on the trot, with eight goals conceded in the process, the point is welcome for a Borussia side drifting towards the relegation zone. Benjamin Köhler (46.) headed the home side in front with his second goal of the season, with Jakub Blaszczykowski restoring parity five minutes later.
Kruska hits the bar
Köhler’s opener acted as a wake-up call for Dortmund following an insipid first half. In the 48th minute Marc-Andre Kruska hit the underside of the bar with a tremendous long-range effort. Five minutes later, with Blaszczykowski having already equalised, Mladen Petric saw his close-range header saved by Eintracht keeper Markus Pröll.
Amanatidis extends
In front of a sell-out crowd, the home side struggled to find any cohesion for much of the match. They had a late chance to win it, however, Patrick Ochs forcing a good save out of BVB keeper Marc Ziegler in the 88th minute.
Frankfurt fans meanwhile had some good news celebrate before the teams even took to the pitch: striker and captain Ioannis Amanatidis signed an early extension to his contract, tying him to the club until 30 June 2012.
