Manchester United will receive a boost as Nemanja Vidic is set return to the side for their Premier League clash against title rivals Chelsea this weekend.
The Serbian’s return to central defence could scarcely be more welcome as the Red Devils prepare for a season-defining pair of fixtures: their trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday, and the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Barcelona at Old Trafford.

Vidic missed United’s goalless draw at Camp Nou on Wednesday after being admitted to hospital with a stomach infection, but the club insist he will be available for both their crucial league fixture against the Blues this weekend and their second leg against Barca.

Sir Alex Ferguson was initially doubtful as to whether Vidic would be fit to play, as the former Spartak Moscow player had managed to eat only a bowl of soup in the 36 hours prior to kick-off at Camp Nou.

But the 26-year-old is set to be reinstated beside Rio Ferdinand as the Red Devils attempt to break Chelsea’s home unbeaten run, a feat which would all but clinch the Premier League title for United.
