Midfielder Mark van Bommel sustained a broken nose in Bayern München’s 2-1 victory over Borussia Dortmund in the DFB Cup finals.

The Dutch player broke his nose in a one-on-one with BVB ’s Mladen Petric. The injury did not deter Van Bommel, who gritted it out for the duration of the match and extra time, all totaling 120 minutes. As of Sunday, it is unclear how long van Bommel will be out of action. The 31 year-old player is scheduled to receive a thorough medical examination.
