Serie A Round-Up

Vucinic: Headed Roma in front

Roma missed the chance to close the gap on leaders Internazionale after being held to a 1-1 draw at home to basement boys Livorno.

The Giallorossi suffered a blow on the half-hour mark when skipper and talisman Francesco Totti was forced off with a knee problem.

Roma finally broke the deadlock on 54 minutes when Mirko Vucinic headed home David Pizarro’s cross.

Livorno, who barely threatened throughout the game, shocked the home crowd when they drew level seven minutes from time when Alessandro Diamanti curled home a superb free-kick.

Roma threw everything at Livorno in the closing stages, but could not find a crucial winner to boost their title hopes.

The draw leaves Roma three points behind Inter with the reigning champions facing Torino on Sunday, while the result leaves Livorno just a point away from fourth from bottom Parma.

Fiorentina strengthened their grip on fourth place with a 1-0 win over Palermo at the Artemio Franchi.

Marco Donadel scored the only goal of the game with a shot from the edge of the box on 29 minutes.

Palermo ended the game with ten men after Leandro Rinaudo was sent off for a second bookable offence on 72 minutes.

The win moves Fiorentina seven points clear of Milan in the race to finish fourth and was the perfect preparation ahead of the Viola’s Uefa Cup semi-final with Rangers next week.

Roma 1 Livorno 1

Fiorentina 1 Palermo 0
