Aston Villa are reported to be considering a summer bid for Fiorentina winger Mario Santana.
The Argentine talent has recently acquired EU citizenship by marrying his Italian wife, and now especially presents an attractive purchase for European clubs, with fellow Premiership side Tottenham also reported to be keen on his services.

According to reports in both the English and Italian press, the reason that Villa representatives were present for Fiorentina’s UEFA Cup victory over PSV Eindhoven last week, was to get a first-hand look at the fleet-footed 26-year-old, though have also been suggestions that Viola stars Riccardo Montolivo and Giampaolo Pazzini might also have been the motivation behind the trip.

It has been a busy day for Villa pertaining to transfer rumours, as the club have also been linked to Tottenham duo Aaron Lennon and Tom Huddlestone, while Getafe standouts Ruben De la Red , Esteban Granero, Ikechukwu Uche, Pablo Hernandez and Cata Diaz are also reported to have caught Martin O’Neill’s eye as he looks to build on an encouraging season.
