Totti: Match-winner
Coppa Italia holders Roma secured a narrow 1-0 win over Catania in the first-leg of their semi-final clash.
Francesco Totti’s superb second-half goal proved to be enough to give Roma a slender lead to take into the second leg.
After a tight first half Roma broke the deadlock two minutes after the break with Totti firing home from 30 yards after being set up by Amantino Mancini.
Totti, Ludovic Giuly and Cicinho all missed chances to add to their lead, while Catania struggled to create any clear goalscoring opportunities.
The second leg takes place at the Stadio Massimino on 7th May.
StalemateIn the other semi-final tie Internazionale were held to a goalless draw at home to Lazio.
In a disappointing encounter played on a slippery surface chances were few and far between as both sides cancelled each out.
The closest Inter came to scoring was when Nicolas Burdisso headed against the crossbar ten minutes from time.
The result leaves the tie delicately poised ahead of the second leg at the Stadio Olimpico next month.
