The DFL Deutsche Fuball Liga GmbH has today announced the tender for the audio-visual rights of all Bundesliga and 2. Bundesliga matches of the seasons 2009/2010, 2010/2011 and 2011/2012 for the territory of the Federal Republic of Germany.
It is intended to start the tender in the second quarter of 2008. Subject to the antitrust examination of the Federal Cartel Office the announcement of the start of the tender as well as the dispatch of the tender documents may take place at a later date, but four weeks after today’s announcement at the earliest.
“The central placing of the media rights is of essential importance for German professional football as a whole. That is why we expressively appreciate that the Cartel Office gave us green light regarding the announcement of the tender. The DFL will continue to work together constructively with the Cartel Office in further antitrust examinations”, DFL Chief Executive Officer Christian Seifert says.
On behalf of the DFL and the League Association, the Sirius SportMedia GmbH will independently carry out the tendering procedure for the statutory central placing of the audio-visual media rights in close coordination with the DFL. The decisions about the placing of the advertised media rights will be made by the responsible bodies of the League Association.
