Amauri makes Italian plea

Amauri: Available for Italy

Palermo striker Amauri has revealed he has given up on any hopes of playing for Brazil and he is now ready to offer his services to the Italy national team.

The 27-year-old has lived and played in Italy for over five years and after being constantly overlooked by Brazil head coach Dunga, Amauri has made himself available to Azzurri boss Roberto Donadoni.

“In a few days I will be receiving my Italian passport so I will not have and problem if I am called to the Italian national team.,” Amauri told the Brazilian press.

“I want this to happen and I am hoping that Roberto Donadoni calls me.”

Relish

Amauri has also issued a come and get me plea to Serie A giants Juventus after stating he wants to move to a bigger club.

The Palermo frontman has been linked with a number of European clubs with Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester United and Barcelona all rumoured to be interested in the 27-year-old in recent times.

Amauri scored twice in Palermo’s 3-2 win over Juventus on Sunday, and has admitted he would relish a move to Turin at the end of the season.

“I am waiting and preparing for a move to a bigger club and I think that could happen in June when the season ends,” said Amauri.

“I have heard the president of Juventus (Giovanni Cobolli Gigli) saying that they are interested in me and I am happy with that.”
