Werder back on track
Werder Bremen have reported back in the race for a place in a European competition with a 2-1 win away to Hertha BSC.

Werder are back on track after four matches without a win, and they are now unbeaten in the Olympic Stadium since October 2001.

Flying start

Markus Rosenberg with the fastest Bundesliga goal in 2007/08 after just 39 seconds and Tim Borowski (73) scored for Werder. Andre Lima (10) had equalised for Hertha.

It was the third defeat in a row for Hertha and the fifth match without a win.

Pantelic in the stands

Striker Marko Pantelic had to watch from the stands one more time with a calf injury.

Rosenberg was mentally quicker than Hertha defender Josip Simunic to put away Clemens Fritz’s cross inside the first minute.

Frings impressive

But Hertha were not impressed. Raffael (3) was denied by Werder keeper Tim Wiese before Lima equalised with a header from Rudolf Skacel’s free-kick.

Torsten Frings played an impressive match in the middle of the park, and his great ball to Borowski created the winner for the guests 17 minutes from time.
