Tottenham Hotspur assistant Gustavo Poyet was satisfied with the display shown by his side in their 1-1 draw with Blackburn Rovers…
Spurs took the lead when DImitar Berbatov made the most of Jermaine Jenas’ good work after just seven minutes.
They took control, but Blackburn managed to hit back before the break through Morten Gamst Pedersen - who hasn’t scored as much as usual this season.
A match contested between two sides having little left to play for this season ended in a draw, but Spurs assistant Gus Poyet was happy with the style displayed by his side.
“That’s the football we want to play week in, week out: to be in position, to have the ball, pass it around, moving, changing positions,” he told Sky Sports after the game.
“It’s very easy to say, but it’s sometimes difficult because of the opposition. Overall, I think we played very well today.
“We have to play the last games of the season at the same level, to show we can be a good team week in, week out not only every now and then.
“We know and we are convinced that we have what it takes to play every week at this level.
“I think we did push a lot. We tried to go for the game all the time and the players showed that.
“We played some good football today. It was quite open sometimes, but it was a good game for the supporters, so we have to go home happy.”
Poyet denied there was a penalty shout against his side when David Bentley collided with Gilberto.
“I think Bentley’s run into Gilberto to be fair, I don’t think it was a penalty,” he declared.
