Kuntz steps down at VfL Bochum
Bundesliga outfir VfL Bochum and SPort Director Stafen Kuntz havce parted ways, after they failed to come to terms on a contract extension.

Former German internationaol Stefan Kuntz took over as Sport Director of the club on April 1st, 2006, and was given a contract that was due to expire on December 31st 2008. Following an upsurge in the clubs fortunes,

Bochum’s Supervisory Board had unanimously voted to continue working with Kuntz in a meeting in February, and opted to inform Kuntz early on the matter with a new contract offer. But following several meetings, no consenus could be made.

No longer interested

Stefan Kuntz then went on record as saying that he was no longer interested in furthering the cooperation with the 11th-placed club, and asked the Supervisory Board to release him from his duties as soon as possible. Kuntz plans to redefine his professional status and vocational options.

After much deliberation, Bochum’s Supervisory Board has said it will respect Kuntz’s wishes, and thanked him for his successful work at the club, and said that they regretted his decision to step down.

Smooth transition expected

Stefan Kuntz has guaranteed the club that a easy transition will be initiated, even if it means aiding after his work at Bochum is officially over.

Coach Marcel Koller will temporarily assume responsibility for the licensced players, which Kuntz had been in charge of. Ansgar Schwenken will assume the rest of Kuntz’s duties until a successor has been instated.
