Tottenham manager Juande Ramos has moved quickly to deny allegations that the only reason he left Sevilla for Spurs was for the money he could earn.
The ex-Sevilla trainer has been accused by the Spanish media of leaving the Sanchez Pizjuan and heading to White Hart Lane solely because of the improved wages on offer at the London club.
In the midst of a dispute between the two clubs, Ramos claims these allegations are unfounded.
“I didn’t move to Tottenham for money,” he told La Sexta. “It arrived at a moment when I couldn’t refuse because I had everything I wanted in disposition.
“I told myself: ‘well, they really want me’. It’s the big difference between a place where you know they want you and another one where you are a bit under pressure.”
He also admitted that he had always dreamed of managing in the Premier League one day. The decision to leave Andalucia was an easy one he said, because he knew he would be achieving that ambition.
“It was a very easy and simple decision to take because I have been waiting for that chance all my life,” he added.
“The criticism I have been the object of are totally unjustified. I am not bothered because everybody would have done the same thing.”
