After the disappointing elimination from the UEFA Cup, Werder Bremen now have to deal with a setback in the Bundesliga.
Three days after their elimination from the European cup, Bremen lost 0-1 (0-0) in Thomas Schaaf’s 300th Bundesliga match and were unable to profit from 1st-place Bayern’s loss against Cottbus.
Leverkusen move up
Bremen also have to contend with the fact that their third home defeat of the season helped allow Hamburger SV and Bayer Leverkusen move past them in the table. Now in fourth place, Werder are also not placed well enought to qualify for the Champions League.
