Di Carlo gets Parma chop

Parma have sacked coach Domenico Di Carlo after a poor run of form.

The Gialloblu are sitting just above the drop zone after Sunday’s 2-1 home defeat to Sampdoria.

Parma officials have decided to act and have axed Di Carlo as they look to avoid relegation to Serie A.

Di Carlo was appointed in June after Claudio Ranieri quit and joined Juventus, having kept Parma up at the end of last season.

However, Di Carlo has struggled to turn around Parma’s fortunes and he has paid the price.

A club statement read: “Parma announce that Domenico Di Carlo has today been relieved of his role as first-team coach.”

Former Parma boss Nevio Scala and ex-Milan chief Alberto Zaccheroni are the early front-runners for the vacant post at the Ennio Tardini.
